For any who are interested in such things, here is the breakdown
of entries and results
for last weekend (greyhounds only), plus a few miscellaneous
comments.
It
is a wonderful field -- reminded me a bit of the greyhound
field at the II this past spring
-- lots of rolling hills with ponds here and there. This field
was very wet from all the recent
rain with patches of mudscattered about. The course designers
laid out an excellent,
challenging course on the field, making full use of the rolling
terrain. The only problem with
Saturday's course was the handlers couldn't see a damn thing
from the start/finish!
That does prevent bitching about the judging, however. <G>
The gallery up on the top
of one of the hills had anexcellent view.
Saturday
6 greyhounds competing (weather: cool, cloudy, but not raining)
Judges: Janice Priess, Susan Stewart
Blondie
(Ch. Windwood Millennium Goshawk, FChX, ORC -- Mansfield,
Jaekal)
Sophie (Gobi Ebi, FCh -- Hill)
Zephyr (Windwood Millennium Blue Mirage, FCh -- Cagney, Hyska,
Standing)
Vita (Windwood Millennium Galaxy, FChX, ORC, AmFCh -- Hill)
Citie (Ch. Windwood Anthracite, FChX, ORC -- Standing)
Matisse (Ch. Windwood Devil May Care, FChX -- Averill)
Blondie
1Y -- 74/74/148 1P -- 74/74/148/296 NBQ
Sophie 1P -- 72/72/144 2P -- 74/74/148/292
Zephyr 1B -- 75/75/150 2B -- 75/75/150/300 2nd
Vita 2Y -- 75/74/149 1Y -- 73/75/148/297 3rd
Citie 2P -- 74/74/148 1B -- 75/74/149/297 for 4th

Like
I said, the handlers couldn't see a thing, other than a bit
of the beginning and the
very end, so I have no comments whatsoever on the courses.
Hard to believe (me having
no comment), I know, but true. Sunday 1 token greyhound (mine)
competing (weather: absolutely miserable -- heavy rain, breezy,
cold)
Judges: Janice Priess, Susan Stewart
Vita
ran in a mixed stake with the single afghan who showed up
to brave the elements.
We did still have two stakes of whippets though. Anyway,
Sunday's "greyhound" results:
Bibi
(afghan) 1Y 71/74/145 1P 71/74/145/290 2nd
Vita (GH) 2P 73/75/148 1Y 72/75/147/295 1st
At
least Sunday's course was laid out in such a way that the
handlers could see almost the
entire course. The way Vita was running on Sunday, I could
see why she didn't place higher
on Sunday. Much zigging and zagging, not much following!
For all my greyhound pals who were too wimpy to come out to
course in the rain on Sunday, phooey to you!
The
show results on Saturday:
All the greyhounds from Saturday were also entered in the
show.
Finalresults were:
Blondie
BOB
Matisse BOS
Vita WB, BOW
Zephyr WD
Blondie
was ably owner-handled to her win. Stacey, you're getting
good at this showing
stuff! Poor old Sophie (8.5 years) was a bit gimpy by the
time show-time rolled around, but
she gamely trotted around the ring a bunch oftimes and never
gagged on her show leash once.
